S.T.E.P. (Surgical Training Education Partnership – previously known as M.A.S.H.) was formed in 2005 as a non-profit humanitarian surgical program to serve developing countries. S.T.E.P. is an entirely volunteer, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing service without charge, obligation or discrimination. We work collaboratively with local health officials to identify key surgical priorities in their communities with the greatest need. Our current focus is the mentoring of operating room nurses and physicians. Team members teach basic and new procedures (such as laparoscopic surgery) while optimizing patient safety and surgical outcomes.
